Bitz 'N' Blogs with CJ Cross

Hi! My name is Ceej. I like to write stuff!

The One Where Everything Happened

OK….

Today’s blog is just going to have a bit of everything

To begin

Last week I wrote a very short, very abrupt blog on the subject of spoilers. It wasn’t very long. Not very well thought out and was written mainly out of frustration and annoyance over the fact that human beings still refuse to take responsibility or (accountability for that matter) in regard to avoiding what they see online about a certain TV show that’s on air at the moment. it is something I feel I will need to do a deep dive into at a later stage – but now is not the time.

Last Friday began as any other. My support worker, Miss C arrived for her shift with me at exactly 6.30am. Her shift was meant to be from 6.30am- 9.30am.

It started out normal enough. She helped me shower, dress, help with breakfast and other light duties that needed to be done around the house.

I wasn’t really feeling great that morning so, I decided to just take it easy and relax before work. My Husband had already left for work at 7am so it was just Miss C and I and, as we were talking about our respective childhoods, we were going over my many, many photos I had of me as a child ( Which my Father gave to me around the time of my 21st Birthday) at which point I sneezed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always gotten nose bleeds. As I child I’d go to bed and in the morning I’d wake up with my pillow and one side of my face stained with blood. As an adult, I’d get them mostly during the Summer – which made perfect sense if you think about it. Australian Summers are notoriously hot, so it would stand to reason I’d get the odd one or two. More recently however, nose bleeds started happening if I scratched my nose or blew it. Given that they were only small bleeds, I never thought anything of them and handled them accordingly ( pinch the nose, cold ice-pack on neck, sit leaning forward etc) and this one started out as no exception.

Five minutes in, I knew this one was going to be a big one and so I asked Miss C to grab some extra cloths and the large ice bag from the freezer in the kitchen.

After 15 minutes it wasn’t stopping and the excess was running down my throat or I was coughing it up in large chunks into an endless supply of tissues.

We called my support workers manager- who had experience as a nurse and after a few quickfire questions, we were given the Nurse on Call service number to ring.

At this point, my nose bleed had gone rouge and I started to wonder whether I should go to hospital. For a brief moment, I considered it .. but Miss C had borrowed her uncles car that day and so I decided against it. I called Hubby and told him to come home.

He arrived home about 10 minutes later and decided it was time for me to go to Emergency.

By now my nose bleed had been going on for about an hour – with no signs of stopping. Thankfully, we live just around the corner from Maroondah Hospital so it did not take long for us to get there.

We arrived and went straight to the emergency room and up to the triage nurse. I was taken to a room about 5 mins later.

We were at Maroondah for around 3.5 hours and the end result ended up with me having my nose cauterised in two places.

I came home tired, sore and completely worn out. Was advised to take it easy for around a week.

Saturday was my Community Access day and the only thing I had the energy for was my appointment at 10am for the Optometrist. Miss M accompanied me that morning. I had been getting pains behind my left eye for about a month and decided I’d best get it checked out.

The outcome? The surface of my left eye was dry and so eye drops were prescribed to take care of it.

I don’t need to go back for a year. Which is good.

On the work front – This week every department was getting snowed under. This was mainly due to a restructuring of the inner workings of things and the real outcome of that particular decision won’t be known for at least six weeks.

In the meantime, we’re all hands on deck and doing our best to stay on top of things.

My favourite show of all time dropped the ball and is now preparing to jump the shark as far as the story goes. IYKYK

With two episodes left to go before it ends forever, I am bitterly, bitterly disappointed with how the final season is choosing to play out. ( This will become a blog at some point after the series ends.)

And finally, this weekend saw Hubby and I celebrate 29 years together as us. It’s kinda hard to believe that two kids in their 20’s who decided it might be fun to kick around a bit for a few months – ended up still being together after almost 30 years.

This year also sees us celebrate our 20th Wedding anniversary in September. How time flies when you’re having fun.

Thanks for reading,

Ceej
